“My heart was pounding as I leant on the banister to catch my breath. My body ached. My knees throbbed with pain. I pictured the old me. The one that could comfortably finish CrossFit workouts. And that was the moment. The dark moment I realised how bad it was. How far I’d let myself fall. Because this wasn’t after a workout. I‘d just climbed the stairs.”

This heartbreaking event from Levi’s story is the rock-bottom moment that made him reach out for advice.

We started the same way every nutritional journey should start. By creating an honest, safe space for discussion that puts the client first. One where he felt comfortable being vulnerable but also understood he would be kept accountable.

Then we talked about Levi. About his lifestyle, struggles and goals. This information is the foundation everything is built upon. Because understanding his weight loss and emotional eating concerns were key to building a personalised, sustainable plan tailored to his needs.

He’d already tried meal plans, tracking apps and weighing his food. But despite every effort he made. Nothing stuck. He couldn’t make anything work long-term. Every time something failed, he beat himself up a little more. He was trapped in a cycle he couldn’t escape.

The mental toll of losing weight, only to put it all back on again was devastating him. Stress and tiredness put him on a one-way road to ultra-processed food dependency. His relationships were suffering. His confidence was dwindling.

He was in a rut and found comfort in food. But time after time, emotional eating derailed everything he worked so hard for.

Every day felt like a grind. He was completely overwhelmed and had no idea where to start. But he was afraid to start something new again only to fail.

That’s why Levi is so inspirational to work with. Because despite his struggle. Despite his uncertainties. He still sought help. This step is so powerful for every client on their nutritional journey. Acknowledging the inner voice calling on you to make change is never easy. Acting on it and asking for support like Levi did is even harder.

My first step was to not just simplify the mountain of evidence-based nutritional advice available to him. But choose the best, most accessible improvements to start him on his path.

I completed a comprehensive dietetic assessment including his past medical history. Because Levi’s behaviours and triggers played a huge part in his relationship with food. It took a combination of both dietetic knowledge and behavioural change to fully support him.

He was given small changes at first that were achievable to him. Then, as we spoke more and more his confidence grew. Constant adaptations were made to his personalised plan with every step he took closer to his goals.

So much came afterwards, but the difference between where he started and where he is now is incredible.

“Goda found a way to cut through the noise and start me on my path. She simplified everything. We have real conversations about real life situations that mean something to me.

When we started, I was really struggling and seeking help without knowing it. I messaged Goda and she did what she does best, instantly provided support. We discussed everything and she made a genuine effort to understand my position.

Her help and advice changed my life for the better. Goda has given me a nutritional skillset. One I can apply to the rest of my life.”
