“I was clueless when it came to nutrition. I thought I ate pretty well for the most part, but lazy habits and the processed food intake during my shift work always made me feel like I could do better. I never found long-term consistency. My energy levels were so erratic. I was about to start training for the biggest CrossFit competition I’d ever undertaken and was desperate to sort myself out ahead of time.”

In my very first meeting with Daryl, I could sense his frustration with feeling like he was living two separate lives.

His part-time railway job seemed to come with its own distinct diet. Meals were often fuelled by processed foods and mindless snacking just to get through the shift. While he was eating enough, there was little consideration for the quality of his food choices.

It was such a stark contrast to his other job, running his own business, where his eating habits and intake were so much better.

On his bad weeks, Daryl spiralled into a cycle of poor habits and negative self-talk. He was tired, lethargic and constantly told himself he was lazy.

I knew I had to create better alignment between his two work patterns and ensure his diet consistently provided the nutrients his body needed to function optimally.

He’d already tried meal prep in the past but struggled to keep it up. Already tried tracking his food only to see weeks go by without logging anything.

But despite that, Daryl recognised that change takes time and was willing to be patient. He was open and honest about his lack of nutritional knowledge and willing to learn. He wanted to implement changes that were realistic and appropriate to his lifestyle.

He also had the biggest CrossFit competition of his life coming up.

So we got to work and started small. We looked over Daryl’s busy schedule and focused on improving his breakfast intake first. Then we expanded to lunch & snacks whilst considering the busy time of year (Christmas and New Year).

We prioritised practical, time-efficient meals and began to educate him on competition fuelling. On what worked best for training days & recovery specific to his output.

“I was amazed by how accessible Goda made complex nutritional advice seem. Her knowledge and application of it is unbelievable.”

Beyond practical assistance, Daryl also seemed open to guidance on self-reflection, so we worked on behaviour change techniques to improve his nutritional choices and preparations. Used sports nutrition principles to guide pre/post-training meals.

It was wonderful working with Daryl because he implemented everything straight away with a completely open mind and saw almost instant results.

His new, easily repeatable breakfast supported his general well-being and improved his performance during training. He stopped reaching for ultra-processed snacks because he was fuller for longer. His energy became more stable throughout the day with fewer fluctuations.

And that was just the short term.

Simplified meal planning to fit his shift work & busy lifestyle rather than strict calorie counting massively improved his body composition.

The personalised, adjustable recommendations we made over time, ensured our strategies were sustainable and Daryl achieved massive firsts at his CrossFit competition.

“I feel more confident that my nutrition is taken care of because of what I’ve learned and implemented. It’s helped so much with my training. I’m not second-guessing whether I’m fuelled properly anymore, because I know I am.

The ‘you need to do better’ voice that seemed to echo around my head is gone. I have a quiet confidence in what I’m doing. I know how to manage myself. I’ve never had that feeling before in my life. Goda showed me how to find it.

My biggest win was going into my CrossFit competition - Strength in Depth. I arrived with good nutrition on autopilot. I knew I’d been eating well leading in and what I’d packed to take with me was exactly what I needed.”

The personalised plan you need to achieve your goals is just one step away.
